Importance of Performing HASS Testing Correctly When performing a Highly Accelerated Stress Screen (HASS) on finished products it is very important to ensure that test parameters are accurate so the products under test will be accurately screened, not over or under stressed, so that your customers receive products with the highest amount of useful life possible. An example of this is an aerospace customer was performing HASS Testing on finished airplane components prior to shipment. They thought the products were being screened on a HALT HASS Chamber to 18 Grms over 0-10, 000 Hz, per their test procedure. The screened components, however, were experiencing higher incidences of failure than expected. The suspicion was that something was wrong with the HASS testing system. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the HASS testing parameters had been changed from 18 Grms over 0-10, 000 Hz to 18 Grms over 0-2, 000 Hz. This caused the products under test to be over stressed, reducing their useful life. As a result damaged products were shipped out unknowingly. Performing HASS testing accurately is important.
